I’m not sure that I agree with the idea that the leftist SJW movement is modern or new. What about the Freedom Riders in the 1960s? What about SDS? What about garden-variety leftists in the 1970s? What about Marlon Brando refusing his Oscar in 1973 and sending an Indian onstage instead? I think SJWs have always been there, but maybe they’re just more aggressive now, or, more noticeable due to the internet, Twitter and so forth.

Freedom Riders: White Yankee girls and their nigger lovers came down from the North to ride on the front of the bus during the so called civil rights movement (the 2d Reconstruction) in the 1960s. They got paid for it, no doubt.
