“George Orwell said that some ideas are so foolish that only an intellectual could believe them, for no ordinary man could be such a fool. The record of twentieth century intellectuals was especially appalling in this regard.” — Thomas Sowell.

A drunk is someone who has had too much to drink.

An intellectual is someone who has had too much to think.

The more brains you have, the less “common sense” you have. Why? Good question. I’ve met Ph.D.s who couldn’t change a car tire even if they had illustrated instruction manuals and God himself was talking them through the task! As smarts go up, “horse sense” goes down. No wonder dictators enjoy killing intellectuals.

Our society has been badly harmed by intellectuals, and worse than that, they never pay for all the harm they cause.

A grossly disproportionate number of Western intellectuals have been Jews. You’re surprised, aren’t you? No?? Oh. Okay, then.

This book is titled “Intellectuals and Society” by Thomas Sowell (who was Black, by the way).
