48 is fine for highspeed but there is still a significant number that use dialup.

It's because you are on dial-up . 48k is just too much bandwidth for dial-up .

Stan needs to post it up at 8K for the dialies, just like NatVan does. He can equalize it a bit.

I think 8k would be too low, kind of echoee and any music would be very tinny.
However , 12k , 16k, 24k would be good and 95% of dial-up could handle any of those .

My main problem is that I'm an audiofile by hobby and trade. I have spent my life striving for the best sound possible in everything I produce.

I cant stand the sound of 48k let alone anything under that. But I realize the neccessity to broadcast in those lower ranges to reach the dial-up crowd.

The system is capable of running at different encoder output settings. As I said I tried tonight but missed one important point - I need a 2nd soundcard to process the second signal. That's why the whole system dumped on me as soon as I started it up this evening. So now I know. Gotta hit the computer store today and grab another one.

As far as the buffering on even the cable folks, I think that is due to the still-heavy traffic on the server due to the release of GF #34.

As of a few hours ago when I had an opportunity to look, there had been over 1700 downloads and or streaming connections to GF #34. That is a hell of a load. My wife is looking into converting to torrent any new material that comes out of VNNB in the future, as well as alternative server links to handle heavy traffic flow outside of our regular system.

You'd better talk with Linder and prepare for explosive growth . VNN and Goyfire will go just like the National Front in France , there will be a point where you are overwhelmed by people with interest .

Those of us with dial-up appreciate the extra time and work you are putting into the broadcasts, Stan. We can handle whatever glitches come with dial-up. Been doing it for awhile now.
